Ingredients for Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
Sweet Potatoes – any size of sweet potatoes will work, but choose firm potatoes with smooth uniform-colored skin. One pound works great per batch without overcrowding the air fryer basket.Oil – We used light olive oil because it has a neutral flavor and a high smoke point. You can also use vegetable oil or avocado oil.Seasoning – We love the simple combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, but feel free to experiment here. Maybe try some steak seasoning, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or even cinnamon and nutmeg. Pro Tip:When preparing the sweet potatoes, I remove the skins, but you can choose to leave the skins on, which makes prep work even easier. Just be sure to scrub the outside to remove any dirt and dry completely.

Toss the slices to evenly coat in seasoning.Air Fry– add the fries in a single layer to the air fryer basket (no need to preheat). Natasha’s Pro Tip for Crispy Fries: To ensure your sweet potato fries are crisp, season just before air frying. If you add salt too early, it can draw moisture out of the fries and make them too soft.
Is it Necessary to Soak Sweet Potato Fries? While soaking in ice water for 30 minutes before cooking fries can help remove excess starch to make the fries extra crisp,
I skip this step because it feels like a hassle. First, you have to wait while it soaks, and second, if you don’t thoroughly pat dry all of the fries, they’ll end up too moist. I guess I’m not patient enough for that ordeal when I’m craving fries! It’s supposed to be quick and easy, after all!
